5. SAFETY INFORMATION

Serious complications may occur in any surgery, including surgery with a Cobodoc system, up to and including death. Serious or life-threatening complications may require prolonged and/or unexpected hospitalization and/or reoperation and/or additional surgical intervention and/or conversion to other surgical techniques which could result in a longer operative time and/or increased complications. Examples of complications include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following: injury to tissues/organs, bleeding, infection, and internal scarring that can cause long-lasting dysfunction/pain.

Procedures using a Cobodoc system may be associated with longer procedure and/or longer anesthesia time. As with other medical procedures, there may be risks associated with the use of general anesthesia and/or endotracheal intubation that are not listed above; you should consult a healthcare professional regarding these and other potential risks.

Risks specific to minimally invasive surgery, including surgery with a Cobodoc system, include but are not limited to, one or more of the following: temporary pain/nerve injury associated with positioning; a longer operative time, the need to convert to an open approach, or the need for additional or larger incision sites. Converting the procedure could result in a longer operative time, a longer time under anesthesia, and could lead to increased complications.

Contraindications applicable to the use of conventional endoscopic instruments also apply to the use of all Cobodoc instruments.

Individual outcomes may depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to patient characteristics, disease characteristics, and/or surgeon/physician experience. Patients should talk to their doctor to decide if Cobodoc surgery is right for them. Patients and doctors should review all available information on non-surgical and surgical options and associated risks in order to make an informed decision.

The demonstration of safety and effectiveness for the representative specific procedures was based on evaluation of the device as a surgical tool and did not include evaluation of outcomes related to the treatment of cancer (overall survival, disease-free survival, local recurrence) or treatment of the patient’s underlying disease/condition.

Device usage in all surgical procedures should be guided by the clinical judgment of an adequately trained surgeon.

If you are a patient, and you have questions about Cobodoc systems or a Cobodoc surgical system procedure, consult with a qualified physician or surgeon. A list of physicians or surgeons experienced with Cobodoc surgical systems will be found on this Site.

Surgeons, physicians or others who are considering using computer-assisted surgery or any other type of surgical procedure shall only do so after successfully completing required medical training and certification as well as the relevant training mandated in the professional guidelines of their own hospital, institution, or society—including training on the use of a Cobodoc surgical system.

If you are a surgeon or a physician, Cobodoc instruments may not have regulatory approvals in all markets. For a product’s intended use and/or indications for use, risks, full cautions and warnings, please contact Cobodoc for further information: contact.sales[a]cobodoc.com.
